A QUICK SUMMARY
Villa Panza in Varese, Italy commissioned the American artist Robert Wilson to create new video portraits for his upcoming solo exhibition “A Winter’s Tale.”
Lumen Arts co-created the treatment, produced the portraits, and installed them.
The video triptych is part of Villa Panza’s permanent collection.

LUMEN’S WORK
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Style must meet content. Villa Panza is both old and contemporary. Lumen researched Italian folk tales and found Calvino’s Italian Folktales. Robert Wilson approved.
STORY-BOARDING & MOCKUPS
Start with story. Mrs. Fox and Mr. Wolf in the ancient game of one-upmanship, intelligence verses strength, a fragile trust. An ancient and still thriving parable.
BUDGETING & APPROVAL
Lumen looks for and finds the greatest economies of costs in production that can be afforded without sacrificing any of the requirements of Robert Wilson’s exacting vision.
FILMING
We filmed in New Jersey to save money, and worked with our New veteran York theater and broadcast professionals for lighting and video capture to insure the high quality capture.
EDITING
All editing was done in our New Hampshire studio. Video files and a color corrected iPad could be sent to Robert Wilson multiple times for color accuracy and rapid note-taking.
INSTALLATION
A custom environment was created by our colleague architect Filippo Moretti, and we were onsite throughout to insure the proper integration of artwork and space.
